Room For Safety

Tampa New Homes and Communities Magazine and Guide

Housed within a laundry room, walk-in closet, pantry or bathroom, safe rooms built by a company called Tampa Safe Rooms are reinforced with the trademarked StormBlocker system of specially engineered, high-strength composite panels that protect occupants from both extreme winds and flying debris.
They’ve been test-proven to resist and withstand a two-by-four-foot projectile shot at a speed of 100 miles per hour.
Safe rooms typically measure 10 feet by 12 feet and start at about $5,000.
“The products have advanced so much,” says company owner Eddie Sutton. “Safe rooms are now economically feasible for consumers building new homes. We’ve streamlined the design to insure that the addition of a safe room doesn’t interrupt the building process.”
